How picks are chosen and ranked, how we stay independent, and how we handle corrections.

How we choose what to recommend

We start from what a beginner is actually searching for, pick real products that are currently sold, and evaluate each against our published methodology. Products are ranked by how well they serve the specific reader of that page — a beginner, a value buyer, a women's fit, whatever the page is about — not by what pays us the most.

Independence from brands

No brand pays us for placement or a ranking. No manufacturer sends us free products in exchange for coverage. We accept no sponsorships. If that ever changes, we will disclose it prominently and label the content — but the default, and the plan, is complete independence.

Commissions never change a ranking

We earn affiliate commissions when you buy through our links (see the affiliate disclosure). Different products pay different rates. We do not let that influence order or recommendation — which is exactly why you'll find a cheaper product ranked above a pricier one that would pay us more.

No fabrication

We never invent reviews, testimonials, ratings, review counts or prices. We never claim hands-on testing we didn't do. Prices render only from the live data layer; when we can't verify one, we show none. Factual claims are sourced, and each roundup and guide lists where its facts came from.

Corrections and updates

Gear, prices and even the rules of the game change. We review roundups and refresh prices regularly, re-check guides for accuracy, and stamp every page with an "Updated" date. When we correct a factual error, we fix it promptly and note the change rather than editing silently. Spot something wrong? Tell us — we genuinely want to know.
